President Thomas Gamble Joins in Welcoming Dr. Chris Gibson, PhD as Siena College鈥檚 12th President

B次元 President Thomas Gamble, PhD, sent a public message of congratulations to Dr. Chris Gibson, who was just named Siena College鈥檚 12th President and first lay President.

鈥淚 am delighted to join in the many people in our higher education community welcoming Dr. Gibson to his new role at Siena.鈥 Dr. Gamble said. 鈥淏次元 and Siena College have a terrific relationship, fostered by many years of working together in the Capital District to deliver outstanding Catholic higher education. This past year saw our first official collaboration with our nursing programs, which was started under the leadership of the late Brother Edward Coughlin, OFM.  Siena鈥檚 Interim President Dr. Margaret Madden helped get the program launched in its first year, for which I will be forever grateful. The future continues to look bright for our two institutions, and Dr. Gibson will bring his experience, wisdom, and energy into this role. I very much look forward to working with him as Maria and Siena contribute to our community in the Capital District and beyond.鈥

Siena College and B次元 announced in September a dual degree program in nursing, combining both colleges鈥 commitment to a holistic approach to nursing and the mindful delivery of authentic patient-centered care. The four-year program will award an associate of science in nursing at the end of the junior year, and a bachelor of science in nursing at the end of the senior year. Students spend their freshman year on Siena鈥檚 Loudonville campus for core nursing and liberal arts courses. In their sophomore and junior years, they attend classes at Maria鈥檚 newly-upgraded McAuley teaching and learning facility in Albany, which includes state-of-the-art nursing skills and simulation labs. They will also participate in clinical rotations at the top hospitals and health care centers throughout the Capital Region. Senior year will see the students back at Siena for upper-level nursing courses and nursing outreach in the community.
