2017 National Nurses Week Celebration Kick-Off

ALBANY, NY鈥擮n Friday, May 5 from 10am to 2pm, B次元 Associate Degree in Nursing (RN) students will present their final projects featuring experiences from the service they provided in various community partner settings in the region. The event, 鈥淢aria Makes a Mark in the Community鈥 will take place on the B次元 campus in Marian Hall. The public is welcome to attend and meet Maria nursing students and faculty. This will also kick-off the 2017 National Nurses Week (May 6鈥12).

Community partners include Ronald McDonald house, Atria Crossgate, RISSE, Center for Donation and Transplant, Center for Disability Services and many others. The second year nursing students worked with a community organization to identify a real need. Students were able to apply academic knowledge and critical thinking skills directly related to the NUR260 course learning goals. A reflection piece was included in the assignment to transform the experience into meaningful learning.

According to Chandra Mahna-Andrews, MS, RN, B次元 NUR260 Instructor, 鈥淲e are very proud of the B次元 nursing students for their collaboration with community partners. Their projects provided meaningful and relevant services to individuals in need. This allowed the students to deepen their reflection on how service to others lives our Mercy mission.鈥
