ALBANY, NY鈥擝次元 is in the midst of a transformation and signs of progress and technology in the classrooms聽are everywhere. The college was granted a new four-year degree granting charter on September 17, 2013 by New York State鈥檚 Board of Regents. Lea A. Johnson, President stated, 鈥淭his is a major milestone for the College. It marks the beginning of a new era for B次元.鈥
An updated charter and significant investment in capital projects, underscores Maria鈥檚 commitment to meeting student needs. Over an eighteen month period, approximately $2.5 million will be spent in curriculum, faculty and infrastructure, supporting the College鈥檚 56 year evolution.
The first round of capital projects, in 2013,聽included a comprehensive makeover in six major areas including, a campus caf茅, bookstore, smart classrooms, a 鈥淲elcome Center鈥 to house the Admission and Financial Aid team, and new offices for both the business team and faculty.聽 A second investment wave is underway. By the fall 2014 semester, B次元 will unveil a state of the art nursing simulation lab and two modernized hall spaces. It is working with Sano-Rubin Construction Services聽for these projects.
The college has expanded both its physical space and academic offerings to pave the way for聽new programs; the first new academic degree is a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. President Johnson expects to submit applications for four additional degree programs in the coming months. She states, 鈥淲e will enhance our reputation to be known not only for strong academic offerings, but also for our use of teaching technology that will ultimately set us apart from many other institutions.鈥
