ALBANY, NY鈥擜 ribbon cutting ceremony will take place today at 11:30am at the Bishop Maginn High School for the opening of the B次元 satellite campus; classes are slated to start this fall. Officials participating in today鈥檚 ceremony include Albany Bishop Edward Scharfenberger, D.D., Giovanni Virgiglio, Jr., MSED, superintendent of Catholic schools, Chris Signor, Bishop Maginn principal, Dr. Thomas Gamble, B次元 president, Dr. John Kowal, VP Academic Affairs and Victoria Battell, RSM, Vice President for Mission Integration & Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.
Bishop Maginn students in grades 10鈥12 will be eligible to enroll and earn college credits without leaving their campus. Four courses will be taught by Maria faculty on the Bishop Maginn High School campus in the upcoming 2017-18 academic year. Anatomy and Physiology I for four credits and Statistics for three credits will be offered this Fall 2017.
Chris Signor, Bishop Maginn high school president stated, 鈥淥ur high school has a solid reputation for high academic standards and achievements with a curriculum that prepares students for educational and professional pursuits. Ninety-nine percent of our students matriculate at major universities and colleges. This unique partnership with B次元 will provide them with transcripts to prove their abilities and talents in a college environment and provide a unique competitive advantage in college applications. We are dedicating space to the college classes to make it easy for our students to participate.鈥
Dr. Thomas Gamble, B次元 president stated, 鈥淏次元 is excited to welcome the Bishop Maginn participating students into the Maria community. Their immersion into advanced academic material will give them a head start on their college education and will provide them with a competitive edge by earning college credits in high school. This experience will enhance their career readiness focus by motivating them to pursue post-secondary education. The shared Catholic faith based missions of our two institutions also lays a rich foundation for students to pursue careers where they can give back and help others in need.
